I've always had a soft spot for the classy Blaney, but it appears unlikely he'll ever get that first win. Still, you never know, and I think if he ever got the equipment, he has the talent to do it.
Dave goes for 1 championship each decade. In the 80s he won the USAC Silver Crown Championship, in the 90s he won World of Outlaws Sprint Car Championship, and although a good guy the decade streak will end. No cup for you.
In Toyota's first year of Cup, Dave carried the banner for the new manufacturer. Unfortunately for him, Joe Gibbs Racing is now on the scene. Dave will always be good for a couple of decent finishes a year. They will always be the exception, not the rule, however, and it seems unlikely that he will ever exceed that pace. It would be nice to see him find his way to Victory Lane at least once before he retires. To do that, though, he'll first have to find his way to a different team.
