The former brother-in-law of suspended Sprint Cup driver Jeremy Mayfield was one of two crewmen suspended Tuesday for violating NASCAR’s substance-abuse policy. William David Keith, brother of Mayfield’s first wife and the spotter for Front Row Motorsports’ David Gilliland, was one of the two crewmen suspended Tuesday. The other was Matthew Huffstetler, a crew member for the Daisy Ramirez Motorsports No. 1 Truck series team.

Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards escaped a suspension as NASCAR announced that it has placed him on probation for the next three races for intentionally wrecking Brad Keselowski during the Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Edwards was not fined nor penalized points for the incident. NASCAR President Mike Helton said Tuesday that NASCAR officials will meet with Edwards and Keselowski as well as their team owners prior to the March 21 race at Bristol to help settle their dispute.

For the first time this year, a NASCAR Sprint Cup race showed improvement in Fox’s overnight ratings as the Kobalt Tools 500 on Sunday from Atlanta Motor Speedway earned a 4.8 rating – a 2.1 percent increase from the 4.7 from a year ago, the SportsBusiness Daily reported.
