NEW JERSEY ARCA RACE WITH ARCA 06, 0 PETERSON & 48 JAMES HYLTONPosted by TURTLEDOVER
THE NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK ARCA RACE TURNED OUT TO BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY OF RACING AFTER TWO DAYS OF RAIN. IN PRACTICE BOTH CARS SUFFERED A LITTLE DAMAGE, BUT IT WAS REPAIRABLE. BOTH BARRY FITZGERALD & DWIGHT LAIRD MADE THE RACE. SATURDAY NIGHT BACK AT THE CAMPGROUND WATCHED THE CUP RACE AND MET THE SPONSORS OF THE 06 CAR, ( FOUR SEASONS HEATING & AIR ), FROM EGG HARBOR TWP. IN NEW JERSEY AND GOT SOME CRASHED RACE CAR SHEETMETAL FROM A SECRET SPOT FOR THE KIDS THEY HAD WITH THEM.
MIKE NIMMO TOOK THE OVER THE WALL GUYS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN OHIO GOT TO GO SEE THE WILWOOD BOARDWALK & A FEW OTHER, SHALL WE SAY, "ESTABLISHMENTS". SUNDAY MORNING THEY WERE ALL DRAGGING FROM GETTING BACK TO THE TRACK AT 4 AM, SO WE MADE SURE THE PIT WAS ALL READY AND SET-UP FOR THEM.
ALTHOUGH DWIGHT IN THE 0 CAR PULLED IN ON THE FIRST LAP TO POSSIBLY PREVENT ANY THING HAPPENING TO THE TEAMS SPEEDWAY CAR WE HAD TO USE, BARRY IN THE 06 HAD OVERHEATING BRAKES AND BROUGHT THE CAR HOME IN 24th PLACE.
I WENT DOWN TO HELP JAMES HYLTON (48) PIT HIS CAR AND WAS THE REAR TIRE CATCHER, DWIGHT CAME FROM THE 0 CAR TO HELP AND WAS HYLTONS GASMAN. JAMES HAD TO COME IN WITH A BROKEN INTAKE MANIFOLD BOLT, AND FINISHED 26th.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ANOTHER GREAT WEEKEND !!!

CHICAGO ARCA WEEKEND DID NOT TURN OUT HOW WE WOULD HAVE WISHED IT DID, THE 06 CAR WITH "BARRY FITZGERALD" HAD SOME PROBLEMS AND COULD NOT GET UP TO THE MINIMUM SPEED. ALTHOUGH NASCARCAMPING MEMBER "DWIGHT LAIRD" DID A GREAT JOB TO MAKE THE RACE, HE ONLY RAN SOME LAPS AND PARKED THE CAR TO SAVE THE EQUIPMENT. THE GUYS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN OHIO HELPED OUT JAMES HYLTON AND PITTED HIS CAR FOR HIM. EVEN THROUGH OUR TROUBLES, A LAUGHTER FILLED WEEKEND WAS HAD BY ALL THANKS TO MIKE NIMMO & GEORGE. WE STAYED FOR THE CAMPING WORLD TRUCKS RACE AND THE INDY & INDY LIGHTS RACES, THEN WENT INTO THE CITY OF CHICAGO FOR SOME SIGHTSEEING BEFORE OUR FLIGHT BACK TO JERSEY. My weekend at new hampshire was unbelieveable ! Let me start by thanking the heluva good cheese company for all they did for me, my mother and father. They were all a great group of people and i would suggest everyone go and try some of their products.
After a seven hour drive from south jersey we went right to the track to go to the suites. They gave us another suite pass to get my mother in and were met right away with a flurry of free shirts, hats, stickers.
Next was credentials. I believed that we only had suite tickets just for friday, but we were handed a hot pass for the whole weekend. Along with that, a pass that included for the whole weekend -- suites, hospitality tent, victory lane, media center, and on racetrack access.
As everyone knows, qualifying rained out on friday. While in the suiite i got the bad news that i was not going to be giving out the pole award for cup. The heluva good people then asked me, "how would you like to wave the green flag to start the camping world east series race ?" ( as my jaw hit the floor ! ) started the race and did not drop the flag, hands still shaking an hour after the race.
On saturday, got to the suite and jokingly asked if there was any thing else they wanted me to do for them, and went into the track for the tour of garage, media center, victory lane, pit road. When we got back to the suite, to heluva good people said they needed me to do one more thing for them. To present the pole award to joey logano right before the nationwide race on stage !
we did not plan on staying for sunday, since we knew nothing about the whole weekend passes, we lucked into a hotel room for saturday night and stayed for sunday, but left at halfway to get home.
While at the track we met and autographs by - ralph sheheen, david green, andy santere, and was talking to chad little for a while in the lobby of our hotel, although he did not think we knew who he was untill i said " see-ya chad
DOVER, Del. – Dover officials today confirmed the closing of the infield parking option for fans beginning in 2009. Decreased demand from fans for this viewing option caused the closing.
“Every year, the number of race fans taking advantage of this option was essentially cut in half from the prior year,” said Gary Camp, director of public relations for Dover International Speedway. “Only around 100 customers paid to park in the infield for the Sept. 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.”
More and more fans are taking advantage of alternative seating choices that are less expensive than the infield parking option.
“Fans can experience a race for much less by purchasing a grandstand seat to the event for just $ 55 — and the view from the grandstands is even better, without viewing obstructions,” Camp said.
Tickets for both NASCAR race weekends at the Monster Mile, May 29-31 and Sept. 25-27, 2009, are still available. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 800-441-RACE or visit DoverSpeedway.com.

MY RESPONSE ---
MR. CAMP, I HAVE FINALLY STUMBLED ONTO YOUR PRESS RELEASE OF THE INFIELD CLOSING, AND IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU TRIED TO INFORM PEOPLE. I ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE PART, ( I MEAN LIE ), THAT ONLY "100 CUSTOMERS WERE PAID", SINCE I WAS TOLD IN A CONFERENCE CALL IN JANUARY THAT "ONLY ABOUT 35-40 PEOPLE PAID". I GUESS NOBODY WOULD BELIEVE THAT BLATANT LIE SO THE NUMBERS GOT A LITTLE FUDGED TO MAKE IT SOUND BETTER. OH, AND WHERE DOSE IT SAY THE OTHER EXCUSE THAT I WAS TOLD, "WELL JOE, NASCAR NEEDS MORE AND MORE ROOM". WE'LL SEE EXACTLY HOW MUCH ROOM THERE IS IN THERE, THEN YOU'LL HERE FROM MANY THAT I AM TELLING THAT YOU WERE ALL FULL OF IT.
THE INFIELD FANS DIDN'T CARE HOW MUCH IT COST US TO GET IN TO THE INFIELD, WE PREFERED IT THERE, ABLE TO SEE FREINDS, COOKOUT, PLAY GAMES, AND BRING OUR CHILDREN. RATHER THAN SITTING LIKE PENNED CATTLE IN THE GRANDSTANDS.
IF THE TRACK WOULD HAVE JUST HAD THE INFIELD ONE MORE TIME SO EVERYONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN NOT TO COME BACK I COULD HAVE UNDERSTOOD, BUT I GUESS THAT IS HOW PEOPLE THAT DON'T USE THEIR BRAINS THINK.
OH WELL, I GUESS IT'S POCONO FROM NOW ON, NO DOVER AGAIN.
I HOPE YOU HAVE BEEN GETTING A LOT OF RESPONSE FROM ME PUTTING YOUR NUMBER AND E-MAIL OUT THERE ON MULTIPLE WEBSITES.
GOING TO BE HANGING OUT WAITING FOR THE FREAKOUTS OF ALL THAT SHOW AND DON'T KNOW !!!!!

Dover Motorsports CEO Denis McGlynn'S Compensation Up 16 Percent In 2008 Dover Motorsports Chief Executive Officer Denis McGlynn earned 16 percent more in 2008 than he did in 2007 after seeing a drop in compensation of 3 percent in the previous year, according to the company’s proxy statement filed Monday. McGlynn’s total compensation in 2008 was $464,504, compared with $400,203 in 2007 and $414,313 in 2006, according to the company proxy statement filed Monday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. McGlynn also is compensated by the gaming arm of the company. Dover Motorsports Chairman Henry B. Tippie owns 54.4 percent of the voting stock. Tippie is one of three board members up for re-election, along with R. Randall Rollins and Patrick Bagley, at the April 29 shareholders’ meeting.
Mario D. Cibelli, the manager of the largest outside shareholder of Dover Motorsports Inc., sent a letter to the boardMarathon Partners owns 7½ percent of Dover Motorsports Inc. Cibelli said he hasn't talked to another shareholder that doesn't agree with his position, which he first stated in a letter written last year. of directors urging the company to sell. Cibelli said he met with SMI chairman Bruton Smith last summer but has had no contact since. He said the financial losses of the company's other three tracks without Cup dates in Memphis, Nashville and St. Louis are a big part of his sense or urgency to sell now."We have been told over the years that the Midwest tracks lose approximately $6 million a year in total," he wrote. "In addition to all of the capital that has been sunk into these facilities, management, with the Board's blessing, sees fit to continually add to the investment in the form of annual losses. This makes absolutely no sense." Cibelli said the three tracks that were listed on the books at $150 million have recently had $61 million written off the face value. "Their recognition of just how poorly they've done with that asset, that clearly was the catalyst for us [to write the letter]," he said."Since the separation of casino and motorsports operations more than six years ago, the share price of Dover Motorsports has fallen by approximately 20 percent," Cibelli wrote. "In a 2002 letter to shareholders of the companies, chairman Henry Tippie stated that the spin-off was intended to facilitate 'capital raising and acquisitions' in order to 'set the stage for future growth' for the casino and motorsports companies. "The spin-off, as originally conceived, has failed to live up to its stated intentions. After six years without price appreciation, the old playbook must be thrown out. The days of the independent NASCAR track owners have all but passed," he wrote. YOU CAN TELL DOVER WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS AT - GCAMP@DOVERMOTORSPORTS.COM
EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO LIMIT INFIELD FANS TO A SMALL SECTION OF THE INFIELD, AND HOW TO MAKE THE SITUATION WORK FOR ALL INVOLVED, DOVER SPEEDWAY HAS CHOSEN TO HAVE THE INFIELD FOR CORPORATE HOSPITALITY, AND TEAM VEHICLES. I WAS TOLD IN A CALL FROM REPRESENTITIVES FROM DOVER THAT ONLY 32 PERSONS WERE “PAID” FOR THE LAST RACE. I KNOW AT LEAST 40 PEOPLE IN THE INFIELD PERSONALLY THAT ARE THERE EVERY YEAR AND DO PAY, SO THIS IS NOT THE TRUTH COMING FROM DOVER. THERE ARE AT LEAST 150 INFIELD VEHICLES IN THE INFIELD FOR THE RACES. PLEASE EVEN IF YOU DO NOT GO TO DOVER, OR JUST GO IN THE GRANDSTANDS, CALL OR E-MAIL DOVER WITH YOUR DISPLEASURE OF THIS BETRAYAL.
